Women's Resource Center

For 25 years the North County Women's Shelter and Resource Center 
has provided services to women and their children who are victims of domestic violence.  Services include 2 Emergency Shelters; Community Counseling Program;Temporary Restraining Order assistance; On-campus Crisis Intervention and Counseling Program.

On December 15, 2007, at our annual holiday luncheon, branch members brought donations of new clothing, linens, gift certificates and personal items for the women and children staying at the Women's Resource Center.

Mobile Meals

Mobile Meals provides fully prepared lunches to aged or handicapped men and women who need this service.  Atascadero has five daily delivery routes with 8-15 homes per route.  

El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO)

AAUW member/volunteers assist with ECHO's program which provides food preparation and/or serving dinner to the homeless whenever there is a fifth Tuesday in the month. AAUW branch volunteers assisted on January 29th, April 29th and July 29th.

Many AAUW members are involved in Friends of the Atascadero Martin Polin Library as board members and in other volunteer roles.

Charles Paddock Zoo:

The
branch donated $250 to the reconstruction project of the zoo.  Our local zoo is a valuable community attraction for the education and enjoyment of both children and adults. See www.charlespaddockzoo.org.

Robotics Team - Atascadero High School

The branch donation of $200 assisted the robotics team to participate in competition. See
www.greyhound-robotics.com.

AVID

The Atascadero Branch’s partnership with the Atascadero Unified School District – our
AVID connection – was one
of 16 Branch projects
nationwide showcased at the
AAUW National Convention, June, 
 
2009, in St. Louis.
